Industrial Networks..Making a Connection |
| |
 |
The evolution
paths of network systems for local area networks
and plant automation systems for factory work cells
have been separate, and until recently, very different.
The two areas have utilized diverse protocols and
media to transmit information, making integration
complex or virtually impossible. The advent of an
Industrial Ethernet/IP Network solution has bridged
the gap, making communication between departments
faster, more efficient and more cost effective. |
|
| |
 |
The Open
DeviceNet Vendor Association (ODVA) standard and
TIA draft standard for sealed Ethernet/IP connectivity
and cable have made it easy to extend the benefits
of a high-speed data network onto the factory floor.
Design and materials information, as well as other
Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM) processes,
can be managed more smoothly using a single platform
and support infrastructure. |

Its a Dirty Job

Specifying
an Industrial Ethernet network involves the selection
of a system that can protect critical control data
from the demands of the harsh industrial environment,
namely: high vibration, high temperatures, humidity,
dust, debris, wash-down, abrasive chemicals, weather,
impact, spark, induced voltages, and many other
s. Normal networking equipment can not be used in
these conditions, as they would quickly become contaminated
or damaged. Sealed or hardened versions should be
utilized. The ODVA standard specifies the requirements
for a sealed RJ45 connector, rated to IP67 that
will withstand these harsh conditions.
PANDUIT®, a leader in global network
cabling and management systems, has introduced a
new line of high performance, sealed RJ45 connectors,
which exceed the ODVA and draft TIA standards. PANDUIT
Industrial TX™ Connector s and discrete patch
cords have been specifically designed to meet the
demands of this environment; |

| Industrial TX™ Connectors and patch
cords are part of the new INDUSTRIALNET™ product
line for industrial network applications. Along with PANDUIT
standard Network and Electrical components, the INDUSTRIALNET™
product range provides a fully integrated solution for
all your network cabling and wire management needs; |
| |
|
To ensure
smooth integration of the INDUSTRIALNET™ solution
with other essential equipment found on the plant
floor PANDUIT has partnered with other technology
leaders to address the network, cabling infrastructure,
management, automation control and power services
considerations surrounding Industrial Ethernet.
As part of the PANDUIT Architecture for Converged
Technologies (PACT) program these unified infrastructure
systems are pre-tested for interoperability to provide
best-in-class, proven networks, which are easier
and less costly to implement. |
