Company Background
Since its founding by Joseph C. Belden in Chicago in 1902, the Belden name has been
synonymous with quality and innovation. Belden is one of the first wire producers to apply
several types of plastic insulation to wire and cable and was a key supplier to the United
States Military during World War II. Innovations include the invention of the unreeled
package in the 1980’s, the creation of bonded pairs in 1993 and the development of
MediaTwist? Cable in 1997.
Core Focus
Belden Electronics Division is a leader in the design, manufacture and marketing of specialty
wire and cable products for the electronics and electrical markets. In 1993, Belden
introduced the first 350 MHz extended frequency high performance UTP cable:
DataTwist® 350. This unique bonded pair cable met today’s Category 5e standard a full
six years before TIA/EIA defined the final required electrical parameters.
Belden has manufacturing facilities and distribution centers in the U.S., Canada, Australia,
Singapore, Germany and the Netherlands. A majority of Belden manufacturing, engineering
and support functions are ISO approved.
Shared Vision
Belden and PANDUIT® have worked together to develop the Integrity Cabling Solution, an
end-to-end copper and fiber optic cabling system that delivers unmatched reliability and
performance where it matters most...in an installed channel.
